this work is a collection of meditations. it speaks to a need to escape from reality, but also reflects contentedness with it. it is being at peace and free of thought, and is a sound that is quiet. it is conscious but also subconscious. it is a discovery of self satisfaction, the product of several snoozed alarms and sinful sleep ins. it is seeking tranquility and it is seeing with clear eyes. it is a brain turned fully on and fully off. it is apprehension and anticipation and it is awe. it is a slow breath, a reminder of life. it is a feeling of fear and a feeling of comfort. it is a cherished feeling.
Exhibited in the Black Family Visual Arts Center’s Student Gallery, May 2018
